We are living in the age of communications. Irrespective of its varieties of
modes of uses, the fundamental is always linked to the study of electromagnetic
waves. Rapid advancement in electrical engineering in the past few decades is
due to accurate prediction of complicated electrical network using circuit theory.
So circuit theory is essential to understand the performance of any electrical
device or component involving various electrical networks. Thus to understand
any radio or microwave communication system, circuit theory is needed to
design the terminal equipment. But between the output and input terminal, one
need to understand the electromagnetic field theory. We thereby feel great
pleasure in bringing out our book on Electromagnetic Theory for engineering
students. The authors feel the need of writing a book according to the use of
engineering students in a simplest possible way. We have tried to deal with the
subject contents in a lucid manner so that they are able to understand the
realization behind the mathematical concepts which are the backbone of this
subject. All the subject fundamentals are discussed in an easy and clear way to
make the students strong about the basics of the electromagnetic theory. The
philosophy of presentation and material content in the book are based on concept
based approach towards the subject.
Besides the theory some mathematical basics has been discussed which will
be used later on. Also several interesting numerical problems has been given
along with their solution so that the students should have the feeling of the
practical usages of the subject. We have tried to put hard efforts in placing
contents in this book such that students feel comfortable with the syllabus in an
interesting way
