1 - The Gift of Heaven

There are bad days, and then there are "wake up in the back of a slave-wagon, with a killer headache, no memory of who you are and how you got there, with one of the most valuable treasures of your people hidden in your sock" bad days. For Yashia, it's the latter. But even as she struggles to remember who she is, the secrets and conspiracies swarming around her won't wait. The slaver that buys her turns out to be a disturbingly handsome Imperial Prince sneaking back into his own kingdom, the wound on her head is from one of her own people, and Yashia can't remember who to trust.

If she commits treason to help the Prince get back to his kingdom, he'll be in position to stop the slave-taking that is hurting her people, but his smile promises far more than that when he looks at her, and her heart is already half-lost.
